Advancing Academic Excellence

For the 2011-2012 School Year, the Ford Foundation has moved to an Annual Campaign to replace of the Fun Run that has taken place over the last three years.  The money raised has funded our Science Lab, Environmental Program, and Teacher Grants.  Without your help, we would not be able to continue providing these additional enhancements to our students. 

We are asking this school year for each student to make a one time donation of $50 or a family donation of $125. 

Below is the donation form for our Annual Campaign.

2ND ANNUAL FORD FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT

Special Guests from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), USDA Forest Service, Cobb and Marietta Water Authority, National Park Service, and Cobb County Parks/CATO

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN - CLASS CHALLENGE

Each student and/or family that participates in the Annual Campaign will be eligible for the Fernbank Museum and IMAX Movie Experience Reward*. 

*25 students names will be randomly selected from a drawling in early November 2011.

 

Ford Family Science Night

READY. SET.  EXPERIMENT!

Make plans to join us on Tuesday, February 8th for the First Annual Ford Family Mad Science Night, sponsored by the Ford ES Foundation.

Students will be able to participate in fun-filled Science Lab Stations, specific to their grade level, tour the Science Lab and learn how to participate in the Science Fair.

What:  Mad Science Night

When: Tuesday, February 8th -  6:30 to 8 p.m.

Where:  Ford Elementary School

Why attend?

1. The evening will be educational, fun and hands-on: OVER 25 INTERACTIVE STATIONS AND SCIENCE FOCUSED TABLES; MAGGIE MOOS WILL BE SERVING UP TASTY TREATS!
2. Get more details how to participate in the upcoming Science Fair (award winners will be announced at Curriculum Night in March!)
3. Learn how Ford's focus on science has impacted test scores
4. Find out how you can support science and technology at Ford Elementary

Run the Final Lap for Science & Technology

Raising Funds to Sustain our Science Lab.

The Fun Run was a SUCCESS! Students, parents, families, teachers, PTSA, Room Parents, Ford Foundation and administration came together to focus on raising funds to sustain our Science Lab. 

PLEDGES ARE DUE! Now is the time to turn the pledges into donations. If we are 100% successful, you helped raise nearly $25,0000 to support science and technology at Ford Elementary School. Please place all of your donations in an envelope and give to your child's teacher. Return your donations by Monday, November 15th. Checks should be made payable to CCSF - Ford Foundation. There will be a final collection after Thanksgiving! Remember all contributions are 100% tax deductible! 10% of the collections go directly back to our classrooms.

Two classrooms will enjoy a Pizza Celebration by accomplishing the following:
· The classroom with the top % of pledges collected by November 15th
· The classroom with the top dollar amount collected

Going the Distance for Science!

On October 25th, we kicked off the Boosterthon Fun Run...and WOW!, Ford students have blasted off to reach new heights!

So far, students have received donations from 42 states AND 15 countries - including U.S., Canada, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Phillipines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

If you haven't done so, please look for your child’s Top Secret online access code to learn how you can assist our school.

The Boosterthon Fun Run is interactive, community-based and promotes three specific values: FITNESS, EDUCATION & CHARACTER. Students will be challenged to secure 10 pledges for the laps they will be running on November 4^th. Students will “run” for 30 minutes and average 25-35 laps with a “lap cap” of 35 laps.

 

All proceeds help Ford Elementary sustain the Science Lab and enhance classroom education.

 

The Boosterthon Fun Run is for EVERY student regardless of financial giving. All students receive an All-Star T-Shirt and we invite all parents to come to the Boosterthon Fun Run and share this great event with them!

 

We ask you to help Ford Elementary in the following four ways:

1. Please help connect your child to potential sponsors and help them acquire pledges from family, friends and contacts. If you prefer, you can make a direct donation to the Ford Foundation's Annual Campaign vs. participating in the fundraiser. Please note when making your donation.

2. Ask your child about the “Leader Launch” character trait they learn at school each day during the Boosterthon Fun Run program.

3. Please come to the Boosterthon Fun Run on November 4^th - don’t forget to invite others to attend our fun community event.

4. Help us promote thankfulness in our community by encouraging students to thank their sponsors for their support to our school!

Join us! Fun Run on November 4th:

10:00-11:15 am -  4th and 5th grade
11:15-12:30 pm -  2nd and 3rd grade
12:30-1:45 pm - K and 1st grade

The First pledge due date is Wednesday, November 17th.

Welcome Back Celebration a Success!

"Thank You" to all of the students, parents and teachers who attended the Wecome Back Celebration at the Atlanta Beat/KSU Stadium.  Over 150 Ford ES fans attended the Tailgate, Game and helped to welcome Dr. Jami Frost,our new principal. Ford ES students did an awesome job and showed their patriotic Mustang pride by singing the National Anthem,too.  GREAT JOB!
