A tidbit of information

As we wind down the school year, there a just a couple of things I wanted to let you know.

First of all, if your child has a negative balance in the cafeteria at the end of the year, their report card will be held until this balance is paid.  I will be  sending out letters if your child owes money and also be on the lookout for yellow cards to alert you to low or negative balances.

On the last 2 days of school, we will be serving sack lunches which will consist of the choice of a ham & cheese or turkey & cheese sandwich (I have just cheese or peanut butter for my vegetarians) - a choice of 2 chips - a choice of 2 raw veggies and a choice of 2 fresh fruits.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!  Thanks!  Kristie

Another year almost done

We only have 22 more days of school - it still amazes me how fast it is going.  We are still chugging along in the kitchen feeding your kids the delicious, healthy meals you have come to depend on.

As we get to the end, please check your children's accounts and make sure they are taken care of as far as breakfast, lunch and any extras they are allowed.  I have several owing money and it must be paid by the last day of school.  If you have a balance to the good, that amount will carry over to the following year as long as you are in a Cobb County school.  You may call me or send a note in with your child to check their balance.  Another great tool for this is Mealpayplus.  All you need is your student's ID #.

Well, I am looking forward to summer, but I am really going to miss seeing these sweet, smiling faces each day.  Have a great end of year and summer and I look forward to starting all over again in August!  Kristie

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wow!  We are down to a little over 2 months - can you believe it?  I hope alot of you have had the opportunity to come and have lunch.  I have seen many of you and thank you so much for supporting our program.  Our goal is to make sure your child gets a nutritious, tasty lunch and we take pride in that here.  The kids are the reason we are here!

I know that with the economy being as it is, there may be some assistance needed with breakfast and lunch.  We have a county program that can offer that assistance.  If something changes in your income and you need help, please don't hesitate to call or email me or your child's teacher and I will get an application to you.  Everything is strictly confidential.  With everything going on, this may be one less thing for you to worry about.

Well, I better get to work before my ladies start getting mad at me!  :)  Until next time - stay healthy!  Kristie

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year - love is in the air.  I hope you all enjoy it and come have lunch with your child as part of their Valentine treat!  Small children love when they have someone show up unexpectedly to see them.  Take advantage now because as a mother of 3 teenage boys, it doesn't last near long enough!

We have so many different choices for children and adults alike!  Baked breaded chicken - nachos - sweet potato casserole - tomato/zucchini bake and homemade broccoli cheese soup are just a fraction of what we offer here.

So come in and see what your children get to experience each day.  It is much different than when we were in school and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.  We are the nicest lunch ladies you have ever met and everything is prepared with love.  We serve our own children too you know!  Hope to see you soon!   Kristie

1/2 Down - 1/2 To Go!

WOW!  I can not believe the school year is already half over - where has the time gone?  It seems just yesterday I was planning sneak-a-peek!!  So far things have gone well - the children are used to the new choices and I'm happy to say they are trying new things!

We have a few new exciting additions that our babies are enjoying - desserts!  We now have banana pudding - strawberry shortcake and strawberry freeze added to Tuesdays on our menu.   We are all very excited about this!

January is soup month and we will be serving homemade (yes, homemade!) chicken noodle soup on January 20th along with our new banana pudding.  May be a good time to come join your child for lunch and warm your bones on these upcoming chilly days!  It's only $2.50 for you and we can even take it off of your child's account if you like - what a deal!  :)

Don't forget about our breakfast program also.  The kids are loving the grits these days and cinnamon pancakes are a huge hit!  Thank you for letting me feed your angels in the morning - I can't think of a better way to start the day than with your children.  I also welcome you any time!  Breakfast is so important and remember the breakfast program is also part of the free & reduced lunch program!

Well, until next time - if you ever need assistance of any kind, please don't hesitate to call or email me!    Bundle up!  It's cold out there!    Kristie

Extra Food Items

Hi everyone!  I am adding a list of items to the menu page that can be purchased above and beyond the normal lunch menu.  If you would like to limit your child as to what they are allowed to purchase extra, you may call, email or send in a note.  We offer extra items everyday.  They range in price from 40 to 75 cents.  Students are only allowed to purchase extra items if they have a lunch from me or from home and only if there is money on their account or in hand.  We are not allowed to charge extra food items.  We changed choices this year to include much healthier items - such as reduced fat ice cream - reduced sodium chips and whole grain muffins and cinnamon rolls.  If you have any questions about this program, please let me know!  Thank you again for supporting our program and I look forward to serving you in the near future!   Kristie

Ready for day 1

Well - we are up and running!  We were all there today cleaning and organizing getting ready for our angels to be back on Monday!  I have new, exciting menus that will be posted soon and hope that you will come eat with your children and take a taste!  Where else can you go and pay $2.50 for a full, hot, nutritious meal?

A little information:

We offer two hot entrees plus an entree salad each day - a choice of two vegetables - two fruits - dessert and drink.

If your child starts running low on money, they will come home with a stamp on their hand and/or a yellow card.  They are allowed to charge up to $4.80 on their account before they will receive an alternate meal of peanut butter or cheese sandwich and drink choice.  They are not allowed to charge extra items such as chips, ice cream, etc.  You may pay by sending cash or check with your child's first and last name in an envelope or online by going to mealpayplus.com.  You will need your child's ID# for mealpay and can obtain that by calling my office at 678-594-8093.  All I need is a little information.

Till next time.......
