Greetings to all!

I know it has been a while since my last blog.  My broken heel has really taken a toll with keeping up on my usual day-to-day activities.  I finally got the pins taken out last Wednesday and I am now in a walking cast until March 18th.  I am starting to feel like a human again, and I look forward to a full recovery after the 18th.  Thank you for your support and understanding during this time.  The students have been wonderful and I am so glad to be their teacher this year.

The students have been learning about informational writing and recently have done some research on a topic of their choice.  They are now beginning to formulate their research into an informational report.  In Science students are learning about moon phases with Mrs. Fillingim.

Happy Monday!

Our class has been very busy and wasting a minute as we move towards the end of the 2nd nine weeks.  It's hard to believe that we only have two weeks until the Holiday Break!  The students did an outstanding job with their book report presentations!  I was very impressed and proud of their success!

The Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, December 20th at 12:45.  More information about this party will be coming soon!

Curriculum News!

We continue to compact in math this week.  Some students will be participating in extending and refining this nine weeks standards, while others will be practicing and reviewing the standards.  We have been reading the book, Toliver's Secret.  This is an exciting story during the about a young girl who has to deliver a secret message General Washington's Army.  It gives the students an idea as to what it was like living in the colonies during the Revolutionary War.  They are really enjoying this story.  We have switch to Science during the last 4 1/2 weeks and the students will be learning how light and sound are produced.

Dear Parents,

Please refrain from sending in any snacks or birthday treats that contain peanuts.  There is a student that is very allergic.  Thank you for your support!  Mr. Beck
